I've had some car troubles recently. Actually, they aren't so recent: about three or so years ago, the City of New York had the audacity to ticket me for a plethora of reasons. Parking, standing, inspection---I just couldn't make them happy! Since moving to the 'burbs, I've managed to avoid any further indiscretions, but the city wouldn't just take a wash on ancient history. Oh no, the CoNY had to threaten me with the inability to renew my registration. They had to play hardball by suspending my license! The brutality.
Anyhow, I have since paid off my debt to society (to the tune of around $800), and am now just trying to clear my name. The DMV has been pawning me off on every other agency in town until today, when I made it to the New York City Finance Offices on John Street. And guess what? It was a pretty awesome experience. My number was called one second after I sat down, the woman was super nice, and the whole thing took less than seven minutes. Way to go finance dept.!
Here are some pieces from Etsy, the overwhelming, maze-like website which reminds me a lot of the DMV and also happens the best place to buy from truly independent artists...
Lavender Stacking Dot Rings by TreAnelli, $65 (for all three)
14K Rutilated Quartz Earrings by MaryaJewelry, $340
Unpreppy Plaid Ring with Garnet by Stellasilver, $60
Oxidized Sterling and Aquamarine Necklace by KrisCross Designs, $95
Hidden Valentine Heart Ring (Rutilated Quartz) by Nina Dinoff, $120
(SO cute!)
EDITED TO ADD:
Keen eyed Molly of Ashcan Rantings was so OTM about my cat. Molly said, "haha your cat = posh spice in the marc jacobs ads. actually your cat > lady becks in the MJ ads" and Blue Floppy Hat of Nonsense on Stilettos concurred. Ladies, on behalf of Fatso Fatterson (er, the cat), thank you!

oooh you mentioned my blog!
thank you :P
The stack rings are gorgeous.
House of Elliot - You MUST, absolutely MUST see. I didn't even know it existed until about a month ago, when my mom insisted I watch it with her on a weekend visit home, and by the end I was absolutely hooked. DVD box sets are available in the Boston libraries so I've no doubt you'd be able to track them down in your neck of the woods! It's ever so delicious and the outfits - oh god, the outfits. I can't even talk about them!
I feel bad that I've been complaining about Blogger suspending me. It's much worse what the DMV was trying to do to you! I'm glad you have sorted it out. Now no double-parking!!!
The aquamarine necklace is lovely, and sorry to hear about the car troubles and fines.
the police can be vicious when it comes to automobiles. it is sometimes more of a "power trip" thing i think. but that wont change.
i love those rings!
peace
That's I drive $6 cars - so if I get a ticket, I just leave it there and get another.
Woo, John Street's right near me! :] And that sucks about your license.

That sucks about the city! I love the plaid ring and the hidden heart ring, and Molly is hilarious!
