Happy post-Christmas, people!
I hope you all had a nice one. It's been so quiet on the blog front these days...
First off, I want to dedicate a moment to Benazir Bhutto, the ex-Pakistan Prime Minister (and had currently been the Pakistani opposition leader) who was trying to make things better in her part of the world. This morning, she was killed for it.
I know a lot of people are consumed with American politics--rightfully so--but more than ever, it seems so important to know what's going on elsewhere. Bhutto was a divisive figure, like so many great people are, and she ultimately only wanted to improve the state of things for the people in Pakistan.
On to more frivolous things, I suppose...
Christmas was a lovely one; my boyfriend remembered my bizarre fixation with the Sabrina Dehoff Cat Mask Necklace and surprised me with it. A bit of a downside in that it doesn't really look like the photos online, which is a lesson to us all (me especially, I suppose) about the dangers of falling in love with a photo.
Sabrina Dehoff Cat Mask Necklace, $255
So the fate of this necklace is still undecided.
Between the BF and I, we managed to acquire (excuse my language) a shitload of stuff, including the DVD set of My So-Called Life (me), Seasons 2 and 3 of The Wire (him), the best Wolf Parade shirt eva (me), the best Battlestar Galactica shirt eva (him), etc.
Did you miss your jewelry fix?
Here's a couple of pretties (from Alexis Bittar) until Friday Favorites:
Alexis Bittar Butterfly Wing necklace, $500
Onyx Fly Ring, $175
Hammered Oval Earrings, $110

Yeah, my mom told me about Bhutto this morning... it's so terrible, and you're right--as Morrissey puts it, "America is not the world."
On a lighter note, I love the cat mask necklace! And the yellow flats had bows on them, but I cut as much of them as I could off because I'm a bow hater.
Can you take a picture of the cat mask piece on you? I'm very curious to see how it looks!
that's so sad about benazir...all because she was fighting for democracy, this world can be so evil and cruel...sometimes I loathe that i live on it.
anywho on a lighter note glad you enjoyed my posts, love all the pieces you selected as always, especially the kitty kat!
I couldn't believe when i read in the news this morning the terrible new... it's very awesome of you to pointing it out.
Really sad.
Oh my gosh, the butterfly necklace is awesomeeee. My sister got My So-Called Life too, so I'm going to have to watch it too. :]
awesome jewelry as always - hopeu had a great christmas :D
Ugh, I hate it when something I fall in love with online doesn't live up to my expectations in person. I love the butterfly necklace.
On a completely separate note, thanks for taking the time to comment about Bhutto. It may seem out of place to some on a fashion blog, but on a human level it's completely appropriate.
How is the cat mask different from the photo? I'm curious since I was vaguely thinking of getting the rabbit one.
I love that cat mask one! Lovely!
Gorgeous jewelry. I adore them all.
Bhutto's death is awful. First she was on hour arrest, but she remained defiant until the end. She is a very admirably person.
Back and blogging - I am so glad you posted about this. Ms. Bhutto was nothing short of revolutionary.
I'm making my rounds with the Merry belated Xmas and Happy New Year in Advance!!
That was a serious blow about Ms Bhutto.Pakistan needed her.I was in India when she was prime minister and it was awesome that a Muslim country had a woman prime minister at the age of 35.
I love the onyx ring!!
like so many other poitical leaders out there, benazir was assasinated because she was fighting for democracy. and wht's worse? the gun man was just standing next to her motorcade; right under her neck)):
anyhow. the cat mask look lovely and could i have the website for it?! hahaha it;s definitely my bff's kinda thing. she LOVES necklaces like that=p
I've given you the "thinking" blogger award, see my site for the details.
